Penobscot River Fishing

Smallmouth bass fishing, Penobscot river, Maine

World-class smallmouth bass fishing

Smallmouth bass fishing on the Penobscot River is excellent from below Weldon Dam to Verona Island. My favorite put-ins include Chester, Lincoln, Howland, Passadumkeag, Greenbush, and the Fourth Street launch in Old Town.

A 4 hour trip will involve meeting at a chosen put-in, motoring upstream for about 30 min. and fish our way back to the boat ramp. This is an ideal trip for most people.

If you know you just can’t get enough fishing, consider a full-day float from Passadumkeag to Greenbush. It offers epic fishing, and you are not likely to see another boat. This is a long day on the water.

Pike and pickeral fishing are also options, but be warned, the pike can be very moody and difficult to move.
